[V8] Urban Legend?

The film on the inside of the windshield is often the first sign of a
heater core leak.... so if you start seeing more of a film (i.e., not
just dirt)...
if it is antifreeze, it will leave a slightly sticky and sweet tasting
residue.

In my '74 Mercedes which has sat for the majority of the last 3.5 years,
save 4 wonderful days a few months ago (long story), it cannot be
anything coming in through the HVAC system. And it's not dust, it's
greasy and a huge PITA to remove. If I crack the windows just an
1/8 of an inch, it is much less likely to occur, but still does. Even
my urq did it when it was parked, closed, for the majority of our recent
stretch of near/over 100 degree days.

I don't think there's any doubt that it's from the materials inside of
the car. Doesn't happen in the winter.
