[V8] Urban Legend?

In my '74 Mercedes which has sat for the majority of the last 3.5
years, save 4 wonderful days a few months ago (long story), it cannot
be anything coming in through the HVAC system. And it's not dust,
it's greasy and a huge PITA to remove. If I crack the windows just an
1/8 of an inch, it is much less likely to occur, but still does. Even
my urq did it when it was parked, closed, for the majority of our
recent stretch of near/over 100 degree days.
I don't think there's any doubt that it's from the materials inside of
the car. Doesn't happen in the winter.
