... if I were paying $2000 a month to keep my cars up I'd probably be
driving a Dodge Magnum w/Hemi right now! (I've got 2 '91 5-speeds in
the stable) What is a sage ... a bitter tasting weed?

A can't see any justification for that amount ... even paying dealer
prices. Once a car is sorted out they do tend to go well without too
much hassle. I guess if gas prices stay high and you drive a lot you
might be seeing big monthly outlay, but that sort of expense is rather
independent of the vehicle you're driving ... they all need gas, regular
maintenance, insurance and such.

All that said, I never recommend an older Audi of any type to anyone who
does not work on their own car. Not only do you have to worry about
shop labor rates and dealer parts prices, but you're talking about a car
that hasn't been sold new for 10 years now and even the dealer techs are
not that likely to be up to speed on the maintenance tasks. Every time
I've taken one of my cars to the dealer they've screwed something up.
