You may want to be a little more concerned about the MIL light. It is trying to
tell you something - and it does not come on without a pretty good reason (on
our cars anyway). It sounds like you are running too lean - because of the
un-metered air entering the system. This can be very bad if left un-checked, and
the idle air system cannot correct.
If it is just a hose, replace it.
