[V8] check engine light question...

Without fault coding the engine, the hose that I broke
the other day seems to have resulted in a check engine
light last night.  The hose, as previously mentioned,
was a burnt orange color, about 4 mill. in diamater,
running from the left (passenger) bank under the air
intake.  It ends in a canister-like device.  I presume
this is metering air for the emissions system, and the
break in the hose caused the check engine light. 
Sound reasonable?  As such, I'm not terribly concerned
about it, but wanted to hear opinions...as always :-)
