My first question would be this - is he sure it is fuel? If it were fuel
wouldn't it be blackish/grey. Unburnt diesel will seem white, but not
usually gas. If the head gasket/head were to blow - it would create white
smoke and a wet/fouled plug. Do a compression test on that cylinder(keep
in mind if it is dumping fuel it could be a little low in comparison to
the other cyl due to wash down, if it is the head gasket/head it will be
extremely low) It could be an injector sticking/broken, but I would think
that this would just cause it to blow a small amount of soot and rough
running, I don't think it would do what you are saying. One other thing,
make sure he is getting spark to that plug - I've had more than one
distributor cap to crack only on one plug terminal - hard to find but it
does happen. Not trying to be difficult, just exploring all of the
possibilities. Tell your friend to keep an open mind - don't get tunnel
vision on this - I fight it all the time.
Jason
