[V8] well lets beat this brake accumulator to death one more time!

You have me confused. The serpentine belt drives the alternator, the air
cond compressor and the hydraulic pump. Without these you will have no
power assist for steering or braking, let alone charging. Or are you saying
this was earlier, but that you now have the serpentine belt installed?

light in the dash is on as soon as the car is started. after CAREFULLY
driving it about 15 miles on back roads up to 40 m.p.h., it is still on, and
the brakes are very hard. I have received input from several others about
the "bomb", but my questions are

currently at idle there is none on this vehicle. i checked the pump and the
eccentrics are turning, and the hose is not restricted. yet still no fluid,
and yes, there is pentosin in the reservoir getting to the pump.

to a fan pulley failure. does the pump/bomb need to be primed?

things first.
