[V8] front shock insert replacement question

BTDT with the bilstiens. There are vents at the bottom of the billstiens for 
a reason, like Ingo said. however, those vent holes only work properly  if 
the tube the shocks are inserted to is also vented. It is not just a 
water/oil issue but air as well. As the billstien shock compresses, the air 
or water if any, must be displaced or the shock wont work(compress) For 
those of you have had your billstiens for 100k + miles and dont have a vent 
hole  drilled in the base of your strut tubes but claim no 
ploblems......check your upper seals.......I bet there blown out by now.
