[V8] Oil Change woes!!! Filter stuck!

I havent tried that I dont know if that would work I dont have 2 sets of
hands here today I could give that a shot tommrow and see what happens.
I dont have a air ratchet either. Thanks for the ideas nothing else I
will take it to <insert random lube joint> act as if nothing is wrong
and act as if I know nothing and let them think they broke it. Chances
are it was some retard at the previous lube joint that over torqued the
thing on there and screwed it up to begin with. I have no compassion
with <insert random lube joint>'s.

Thanks,

>Have you tried 'spinning' it off of there with your new socket powered by an air wratchet? How about trying to apply force at an angle from the centerline of the filter as you 'spin your wheels'? If you manage to pop the housing compleetly loose from the top plate, I think you could then work on removing the top plate...

>>Dang. I understand what you are talking about, but can't picture how you might get a strap wrench around the upper half (no room). Could you drill a hole through it and out the side at an angle? If so, you could get a screw driver or something in there to give you some leverage... But what a mess!

After wresteling with it, I got it off, but forgot to see if the old gasket was on the car or the filter... BTW, 2 gaskets don't work better than one :-)
