[V8] Brake Light Warning

I went to the car wash place this morning (you put quarters in and use a 
spray wand) because a bird with a belly ache had pooped on the trunk lid 
last night.  After drying off and driving off, I heard a beep and the Auto 
Check display flashed 'Brake Light'.  When I got to work, I put a brick on 
the pedal and went back to find all the brake lights on.  I tried it with 
other lights on and off, and with the car on and off.  Each time I step on 
the brake (with the car running) I hear the beep and the warning shows in 
the display, but apparently the brake lights are fine.  Hmmm.  I suppose 
water may have gotten in someplace that it shouldn't have, but it's not like 
this was the first time it was washed.  Any thoughts?
