[V8] rough cold starts

Hi,
    I have been having a problem when I start my car,1990 V8,(from California,now in N.Y.).When ever I start it,cold or warm it runs rough.Sometimes it stalls,but not always. If I can baby it for 45 seconds or so, it is alright for the rest of the trip.
    I pulled the codes and got the coolant sensor code.I tested the sensor and replaced it.But I still have the same code and problem.The check engine light also comes on at times.
    The car has 105K and recently got a new o2 sensor,and I cleaned the ISV.
    Any ideas?  Thanks,George
