The Audi district service guy told us the ZF

torque converter can't be

disconnected. My symptoms were identical in cold

weather, to yours.

[V8] trans question

Thanks for all the responses on my suddenly

stalling car (post trans

service). I was thinking that the Dexron ATF

they used might be a

little stickierthan another brand. I understand that
these cars

idle in second and

shift tofirst when you touch the gas. The idea of a

sticking solenoid for

the torqueconverter is a distinct possibility and one
I

hadn't thought of. In

GM cars thatI've had the problem with, I could unplug
the TCC

to test the

theory. Isthat possible on the Audi? The other thing
about

the TCC solenoid

failures thatI've had was that they locked up solid.
In the

case of my Audi, it

feels morelike the engine takes a big hit as if a

super-duper A/C compressor just

kicked in. Sometimes it kills the engine,

sometimes the engine

recovers. BOOM -what the heck was that! Could be the
TCC. Were

your symptoms

similar, Shawn(and any others)?TIACraig Nicol90V8Q
