[V8] Heater box seals

Am another lister doing a heater core replacement. Recent posts very helpful,
and getting the box out for RHD was little differnt to LHD cars, by the looks.
It's gonna be a real pain to put it all back, though...

Have the box out of the car and when I get time 2day will disassemble.

I have ordered a new core and box-to-body seal but i note some of you have also
replaced the vent tube connection foam. Can you buy these OE or did you get
this stuff aftermarket? Also I see that (with box still closed) that the core
is enclosed in a silicon. What is this stuff? There seems to be heaps of it and
it doesn't look like the silicon you buy in a tube.

A family album q, too. I found a post ages ago (and now can't locate, of course)
that mentioned something about transferring all files except ini files from NT
folder to win95...so it will work on XP. Anyone tried or remember this?
