... you don't *need* the factory tool ... it is a standard metric head
... the problem arises when torquing the bolt back into place ... the
factory procedure quotes a torque spec based upon the use of the tool
... which by definition creates a torque multiplication ...
The bolt is torqued in to a pretty high value, and there's a thread
locker/sealant on it ... IME it helps a lot to have a long breaker bar
to R&R the crank bolt ...
