I think I'm going to try the trunk/vacuum line approach before I attempt to
dig into the door, I've got a portable air tank with a regulator on it so
this should be pretty simple to do really. Thanks as always for the great
replies here! I'll let you know how it goes.

Subject: Re: [V8] help! need photos of door lock mechanism
Hi all
John,
Ever wonder if other enthusiast-sites ever require this thread?
I had similar problems with a Porsche, that use to lock its keys
in the car, if you ever shut the door with the keys still in it!
Guess it's bound to happen if you drive a v8Q long enough
without the lock 'updated' bits installed.
The wedge and coat hanger approach is the procedure
the 'pros' would likely use to get your V8Q open. The
vacuum approach - sounds the best if you have one of
the portable hand pumps at your disposal.
If you are going to attempt the fix your self you should
find pics and procedure outlines one these sites.

The inner and outer door shells come apart making accesses
to the lock parts easier .. Small compensation I know ...
I'm attaching the exploded view form the v8Q manual.
Good Luck,
Best,
Ed
