You'd think Audi's were made during the depression or in the midst of a
raw materials crisis based on it's electricals. On a Mercedes you can
pull clusters, switches, etc. and still have enough room to connect them
even if you don't have hands the size of a 2 year olds. I've come across
this more times on an Audi than sanity allows me to remember, repairs
that could have been easy and quick instead of expletive filled and
bloody if only the Uber Engineers had added a few more inches of wire, or
gasp, actually used a lower gauge wire. Someone please tell me they
fired the mental giant who decided that putting a fuse box in the rain
gutter (early type 44's) was a GOOD idea.

Bash away, but I just got through changing the ignition switch on a
relatives 2001 Impala, total time (first time with no manual) was about a
half hour. Everything comes out in a logical and EASY way, I think about
ten screws & a couple bolts and the dash facia, knee bolster etc. pops
right out.
Those of you who have done an ignition on a V8Q or any 2nd gen. type 44
can understand my surprise.
