GREAT BALLS OF FIRE.
Here I am in Colorado ready to leave in my Audi (tomorrow AM) for a week of
R&R and my cruise control is kaput. Then, Simon -- in the UK -- suggests
that I check the vacuum line running to the switch in the brake pedal -- and
BINGO. My (memory-erasing) mind is reminded that I simply pushed the switch up
a few millimeters a few years ago to fix the identical problem. So I do it
again (takes 10 minutes).
Problem fixed, Simon.
THANK YOU!!!

<<Hi mate
I have just spent two weeks sorting the c/c on my v8 for a trip down to
spain
being british and total mad i started with the vacuum and worked back.
Heres the trick there's not a wire in the door jam that relates to cc.
The colour wire your looking for is blue with a black stripe but over
tensioning by the door jam loom can work the spade end connector loose on the
brake pedal vacuum switch check this first, second is the wiring in the stalk
'it's also worth checking that there's power at the stalk if after this you
have no joy then you must have a leak on a vacuum pipe. its not worth
checking the pump till last as they very rarely fail
if none of this helps drop me i line and il dig the notes out.
good luck
SIMON
