Michael,
    I also broke one of the banjo fittings last year.I found that I could
get it out without taking the pump out.This is because the bolt is not
really in there too tightly. It broke,but it is not jambed in there.Get a
screw-driver that fits into the broken bolt,you'll find that you can unscrew
it.I have also done this with just my finger,pushing as hard as I could
while turning it.Anything that will fit into the bolt will work.
