John -
I was just in here last week.
The line you are talking about is low-pressure return.
It has three parts -
- flex line from tank to hard line
- hard line
- flex line from hard line to rack
The first section is easily replaced with 3/8" inside diameter hydraulic hose
and hose clamps. This is the section of hose I installed a filter in.
I really recomend doing this - it is cheap and easy and may just make your rack
and brake servo last for a long time.
The hard line is not bad - most likely
The flex line from rack to hard line is easily rebuildable. If you wanted, you
could just cut the old hose off to reveal the hose barb, and just use 3/8"
hydraulic hose and hose clamps. I spent all of $2.50 to have a hi-pressure clamp
put back on, and hose clamped the other end to the hard line. No big deal.
Just be careful not to nick the hard line or fitting when you cut off the old
hose clamps.
