<snip>This seems counter intuitive. Knock should be most pronounced under
load, most severe under sever load like firm acceration and star stop. Highway
driving is the opposite with very light loads etc. I would think regular for
HWY would be fine, from my experience it is. <unsnip>

Michele I suppose that depends on your driving style but..

Short bursts of light spark-knock isn't a big problem.
City driving involves short bursts of acceleration.
If your point is to save money on fuel, you are probably willing to curtail
torrid acceleration for the good of the cause.
Ergo, regular fuel can work - but might not really save you much $$.

Not all spark knock is audible
Continuous knocking is destructive
Highway driving is continuous

High EGT will burn valves
High EGT does not occur in city traffic
Continuous high EGT (due to retarded spark) and /or inaudible continuous
knocking can damage the engine.
Ergo, on highway driving, regular fuel might be a problem - and you might not
really save much money anyway.

BTW, Highway driving in my region involves frequent mountian ranges (Think
continential divide) and involves long stretches of high output (gotta pass
those motorhomes!) This is totally different than highway driving in flat, humid,
Florida.

YMMV
