[V8] Radiator Hose Question

Ingo,

The upper hose has blown in a different place each time. The first, it
was almost in the middle of the hose. The second, it was on the curved
part where it goes into the radiator.

You speak of excessive crankcase pressure. Could this be why my oil
pressure gauge goes way past the 5-bar mark every time I'm on the
highway or step on the gas leaving a red light? It's about 2.5-3 bar at
idle. Been that way since I bought it. Or does that not have anything
to do with it?

The cap is new - I bought it a couple of months ago when I replaced the
heater core (the fittings of which had also fractured).

Yikes.

Nathan,

I don't like it. It sounds to me like you are developing excess
pressure in the cooling system and that can be only due to the following
things:

1. Excessive crankcase pressure due to cyl. head gasket leaking
pressurized air into the cooling system

2. Defective coolant expansion pressure cap

3. Clogged radiator

I hope it's just the cap.

Ingo

PS -- Where is your upper radiator hose failing? Maybe you can
integrate some plumbing pipe/fittings as a temporary measure before you
destroy the next one.
