The 4000Q and A6 have done this sort of thing.  I found both an old battery 
and the "newer" '99 A6 to have nearly NO water in them.  IF you can open up 
your battery and add distilled water to the cells.  You may overcome the drain 
asI'll bet the battery has little rebound to high amperage loads or long time 
drains.................
