Green, not on any car I own, unless perhaps an old E-Type in British
Racing Geen.

I agree with this. This car has been on cars.com for at least a month,
more
I'm pretty sure. It's the absolute last color I want and the price is
ridiculous. And they haven't budged on it either.

In that condition $10k is about $4-5k too much, imo. Though plugged
cats
would probably have a much more adverse affect on running quality
besides
the apparent terdness.
Sounds like it was kept up wonderfully until it fell into the hands of
an
incompetent or funds-lacking second owner. Root cause tough to guess,
but
anyone on this forum would likely do a t-belt straight off, along with
the
standard fpr, o2, and what-not, which would likely bring it around.
So long as you can deal with green... (just stoking the opinion coals)!

V8 Crew;
A local dealer has a '93 4.2 V8Q for sale. It's dark green over tan and
has
but 75K miles. Both CarFax and Autocheck clear, although it was
interesting
to note that each contains info the other does not. Both also confirm
that
the V8Q has spent all of it's life in the PNW. I drove the car a few
weeks
ago and fellow V8Q lister Shayne P and I had another look at it this
week.
Good news: the car looks great! The paint is in good shape and there
are no
obvious dings. The interior is great! All of the window switches work
as
does the sunroof and the seat heaters (front). The engine compartment is
fairly clean. No obvious hose issues. The trunk was dry. The belly pan
is
present. From what we could see, the undercarriage looked OK, but the
car
needs to go on a lift for a better look.
Not so good news: The car was purchased at auction and there are no
records
- not even an Audi manual; an Audi dealer may be able to provide some
maintenance information. At present, oil change intervals are a mystery
as
is the ever important timing belt and associated parts. Given the miles,
I
think one should probably assume the T-belt needs to be changed. The PS
pump appears to be weeping a bit. The radio safe code is on, so we
could
not check the antenna or the radio. The tires are worn and the wear
pattern
suggests an alignment is needed. The driver's side fog light is
cracked.
The headlights have fogged stoneguards on them that need to be removed.
The
battery was dim enough that we had to connect a portable battery to
start
the car. That being done, it fired right up. No smoke to speak of.
A drive reveals original shocks, the need for an O2 sensor (surge city)
and
it confirmed the need for an alignment. The cruise control is dead.
Shayne
did some slowly go to 4th gear accelerations and then floored it to get
it
come down to second, but it would not. We though that odd.
I've driven a few V8Q's and this particular 4.2 felt as though it was
missing a few ponies (confirmed by Shayne who drives a 3.8 with a
5-speed).
We have a few theories: the dealer may be using regular gas? the dead
battery is messing with the ECU? the cats are plugged? the air filter
needs
to be changed? it needs distributor caps, plugs and wires? Anybody
else
have any ideas?
In sum, the car is in decent shape, the miles are great, and the
deferred
maintenance needs to be addressed. If you're serious, I have pictures.
The AutoTrader asking price is $10,995.
