[V8] 1990 V8 New Rack Install & 1 IMPORTANT Question

... no direct BTDT on the V8 ... but I've done racks on 5000s, which should be very similar.  Based on your observation I would ask your wrench whether or not the steering column seal at the firewall was in the proper position.  General engine noise could be a bad engine mount, but vacuum leaks need to have a direct path for you to be able to hear them.  I suppose there's a chance that a vacuum leak could be inside the cabin too.  Bad engine mounts and a vacuum leak in the cabin?  Possible I suppose, but I'd have the firewall seal verified.
