[V8] thermostats ad nauseum

Interesting!  I'm getting a Wahler tomorrow, but I will adjust my cooking
technique to include some antifreeze.  At least I think that shouldn't be a
problem on the stove and it should help me be able to see better because
there will be no bubbles from boiling water, which also means I can get the
water temp higher.  Hmmm...
