[V8] New 02 sensor, all is well - or is it?

Got the new O2 sensor installed on Saturday.  Reset the fault code, car seemed to be running well.  Drove ~100 miles between then and today.  I was getting ~23 mpg again, car running well, no smoke at WOT.  YEAH!  And then, just when I was marveling at what a difference that made, I smelled that raw, unburnt fuel smell.  Uh oh....look down and the CEL comes on.  Given the symptoms (same as before) it would appear that the O2 sensor was, in fact, not the problem.
   
  Ok, now what?
