[V8] RPM Sensor

Brad, I'm no expert, but if the sensor is beginning to fail on you when
warm, it's terminal.

Replacement is not a comfortable proposition, but it's workable. The two
sensors are attached to an aluminum heat shield at the lower side of the
engine on the driver's side (IIRC). I got to them underneath. Had to
loosen various AC hoses and other items to gain access and even then it's a
slow process unscrewing the mounting screws (which parenthetically seem
excruciatingly long!), but they came out, the sensors were replaced and the
car was back on the road, all within an hour and a half. I personally
replaced both while in there. Someone with smaller hands and/or better
tools can probably do it much faster, but it really is an unbolt, bolt up
job--pretty easy over all.

Good luck.

Bill G.
