Karl,
She will miss the punch of the V8 with the smaller engine. The Avant
tranny downshifts on moderate hills. Feels and is a smaller car but has
advanced conveniences like tilt wheel, remote entry and dual memory settings
plus it gets better gpm.
I have one of each. For the past 5 yrs, I've used the A6 as a light
construction vehicle. A better repair history than the V8, including a
blown head gasket. Also, the warning chime for mty gas/lights-on and the
outside temp light, washer pumps, wiper motor and left side speakers failed.
Dash fix is $750 circuitboard. Single unit upper-lower headlights hell to
adjust well. Insurance covered excellent repair of a deer collision. I
admit it has chick appeal and my collegiate gr-nephew covets it.
I use the Avant for hauling, but otherwise favor the V8.
