Just a wild shot, but have you checked the catalytic converter? I remember a 
while back that a V8 lister complained about his car not running very 
smoothly, or with power, and it turned out to be the catalytic falling apart 
internally. 

On my wife's car it was very easy to check. Just crawled underneath and rapped 
on it and heard all sorts of rattling.
