I think what you have here is the same type of situation as the red brake
light that will come on because of several different anomalies, such as bad
bomb, parking brake lever not all the way down, low brake fluid, low
hydraulic oil, etc. The check engine light responds to a number of
sensors, not just the O2 senson.
