[V8] Audi V8 - we build excitment! (Woes of V8 ownership)

No OXS light. Engine check light or -- bad thing -- CAT light (when cats
are overheating). Engine check light comes on when the ECU detects problems
like overly lean condition, knock sensor overuse (or bad signal) and other
engine faults. On mom's first V8, the engine check light would stay on and
power was noticeably down from what "normal" should be. Later ended up
wrapping the bare exposed knock sensor wire that runs over the left valve
cover down past the hydraulic pump and under the header with electrical tape
and 20 miles later power was restored and engine check light went off. A
quicker way would be to unplug the Motronic fuse for a few minutes and then
plug it back in so that the computer will relearn quicker :-)
