[V8] coolant gauge and fuel gauge problem

I have an issue that affects both the fuel and coolant temp gauges.
Sometimes when I shut off the ignition, the fuel gauge will peg at
Full, but it operates normally when running, except when both gauges
just quit working.  Sometimes a thump on the dash will get them back.
It's temp related.  When they go from not working to working, the seat
belt warning light comes on briefly.

I've seen this written up in the past by someone.  There's a common
ground or something in the instrument cluster schematics.  The only
real concern it has presented for me is that when the coolant temp
gauge is dead, the aux rad cooling fan doesn't know when to run.
