[V8] PT Barnum was right....

I respectfully disagree. Your view of what's acceptable is fairly
narrow and rigid, by necessity as much as personal preference. To
each their own. We can only tell so much from pictures. And the time
for finding that ultra low mileage, rare example of a V8 is dwindling
with the supply. There aren't many '94s to choose from in the first
place and this may be as good as it gets. Obviously someone else is
willing and/or able to accept this example even though it's not
perfect, maybe someone who can do a bunch of the fix-up work
themselves. Or maybe they just really want a '94 and this one is
really quite decent, even when compared to examples of other
year-models. Does that make him a sucker? To me, no. To you, yes.
Again, to each their own.
I believe you might feel I paid too much for the black car in San
Diego. For me, it was a decent deal. I had been looking for a long
time and had just missed out by one phone call on one locally, that
had none of the "upgrades" (arguably speaking) mine has, which I
offered to buy sight unseen for the asking price of only 4600. I even
pursued the buyer and extended interest in case he had second
thoughts. I have seen no new listings since, aside from this eBay
car, and am happy with my decision.
The specifics of my car which would have been significant liabilites
to you, are pluses to me, even if in the form of things I will
uninstall and sell. I have already mounted a different set of wheels
and tires for instance. I did not buy this vehicle intending to hot
rod around, so the H&R/Koni suspension will likely go away in the not
too distant future. (My recent trip to Denver underscored that in
addition to around town, the highway ride is equally uncomfortable to
me as well.) The exhaust and the ECU chip will stay of course. ;-)
And the tint is really not nearly as dark in reality as it looked in
the pix online.
Basically, my car is probably exactly what I would have wanted several
years ago, given different timing and other circumstances, and I'd
probably be at the same point now, i.e. where I would want to "detune"
it to be more comfortable. I have made all of the same modifications
to other vehicles in the past, here or there. So I have yet to
experience a single disappointment. But I digress...
To each their own,
Ed
