[V8] Cruise Control Issues

In all my years of owning Audis ... prior to the V8 ... all of the issues I
has with CC function were easily resolved by adjustment of vacuum switches
or cleaning electrical contacts and fixing vacuum leaks. As a part of the
ignition switch replacement I found at least one contributor to the CC
failure on V8 #2 ... the wires in the column switch are all broken. I had
to replace the column switch on #344 to restore CC function as well. What I
see is that on the switch module the discrete wires through which the cruise
controls are carried are held close to the body of the switch with a couple
plastic pieces on the switch body. As the CC is mounted on the turn signal
switch they receive the most abuse (at least for me and my wife who use
them). These plastic clips will tend to foocus the majority of the stress
from use of the turn signals into a small area, which means they will break
sooner than if they were routed in a way that would allow the entire length
of the wire toi bend (not unlike the looms going through the doors). When I
get the replacement I'll try to see what can be done to minimize the effects
of this bending ... but I thought I'd pass the word along. If any of you
happen to have a functioning CC, you may want to pop the top cover ont he
colun to see what I'm talking about. The wires run across the top side of
the switch.
