[V8] re Trailer hitch

Guys, I pulled a 600lb car dolly with a 3400lb 200 20v avant. Power was
not an issue, g60's were. As long as you keep an eye on traffic and
downshift (if you can ;) ) all should not bee too bad. I also had the hr
race springs with stock struts at the time, and no rub. Your towing
limit with the v8 is the weight of the v8 itself minus 10% to be safe.

Subject: Re: [V8] Trailer hitch

Your owner manual for the V8 says maximum trailer weight for an unbraked
trailer is just over 1600 pounds, I believe, with a maximum tongue
weight of just over 150 pounds. Put brakes on the trailer and Audi says
you can go up to 2000 pounds. I think the main concern is the ability
of the car's brakes to handle the weight, not the drivetrain's ability
to pull the weight.

Make sure you get a V8-specific (or 200q20v) model hitch. Otherwise
you'll have to mess up the rear muffler. You also have to cut off the
fixture into which your tow hook threads because it obstructs where the
hitch would get mounted to the frame rail.

I was thinking about putting a trailer hitch on my 1990 v8 to tow my
boat this summer. I was wondering if anyone does any towing with these
cars. What is the towing limits. And where car i get a hitch for my car.
The boat is a 16 ft ski boat.
