Just a word of caution here. When new/newer engines/transmissions major
components like this get to a legit boneyard, you need to be very
careful. At a minimum ask why the car was totalled, and if possible get
a carfax for the carcass it came out of. When a vehicle in the 40-50k $
range gets totaled, it must have been one helluva crash (most likely
damaging components, usually in the transmission), or worse yet, a flood
car. If the intent is to use the electronics and harnesses in a
transplant or upgrade, if they've been sitting in rain or sea water that
is not a good thing.
This happened to a friend of mine who bought an engine/trans combo at a
boneyard, had so many problems he back traced the engine numbers through
Lexus, got a Vin and found out that the car the parts came out of had
been a Uboat at high tide on a Florida beach. He bought the parts from a
boneyard in Colorado. Caveat Emptor as always.
