... are you saying that you can't even blink them out with a jumper and
light? Sounds to me that there's a wiring problem between the ECU and the
diagnostic connectors. Have you ever had water in the passenger's footwell?
The diag connectors sit near the bottom at floor level and are susceptible
to water damage. I had this on #344, and I saw it on another V8 I went to
look at to try to help the new owner. You might want to wire up an OBD-II
connector directly to the ECU. I posted instructions on the KB on how this
can be done at the diag connector end ... if your wiring is suspect you
might want to hard wire it at the ECU end. If you have any problems
figuring out the schematics let me know.
... on the subject of the Hall Sender on the V8 ... I know I drove #344 with
a solid Hall Sender failure code for quite some time, so I tried
disconnecting the sensor, hooked up the PDA and went for a drive ... to be
honest I did seem to notice a little bit of surging with the Hall
disconnected. As a side note ... after I took #344 out for the test I
decided to try hooking up to the ECU on #2 ... for some reason today I'm
able to talk to the ECU ... so I did get some logs I need to plug into Excel
to see if it is telling me anything ...
The BMW K-bike has two Hall Senders on the crank which operate like a fancy
set of points ... these are a common failure item there too ... I remember
seeing something that someone found that the failures were not in the
semiconductor device but rather in the interconnection ... perhaps this is
true on our dizzys too ... I have a bad dizzy on the bench and a lot of time
on my hands ... I'll see if I can make any sense of the failure on the bench
... after my interview on Wednesday ... :-)

I have never been able to communicate to my ecu, I have tried 3 different
vag-com cables with different computers every time. I have been having
multiple running issue with my v8, mainly i need a new hall sensor. I cannot
seem to find one anywhere.
