[V8] headlight gremlins

Are these stock headlights? If so, I would suspect that it is the
combination switch that has died.

Either that or some strange corrosion issue in some obscure place.

To my knowledge, there isn't a relationship between the cruise control and
the headlights. Is anything else not working in the instrument cluster? If
the cluster ground points are corroded the cruise control might not work.
If the odometer and trip meter are not working properly it could be a
ground. I have the same problem with The Old Gray Mare. Speedo bounce on
cold, and cruise is inop as is the odometer. A good sharp smack on top of
the pad and all is well for the rest of the day, especially if the engine
has been running long enough to produce heat.

I, too have a headlight gremlin. I have installed E-codes in The Old Gray
Mare. I separately relayed both high and low beams on both headlights, so I
used four relays. In the course of doing it, I found that I had bought two
relays that were bad right out of the box. Very strange, although I had
that happen with the Ecode install in my wife's Green Horney.

So, finally got everything in and working despite having heavy rain every
other day that I was trying to do this. The aim isn't proper....too high
and I haven't had time to take the nose apart and pull out the left
headlight to adjust, because instead of heavy rain, we now have heavy
snow...grrrr.

But I have this one issue that I will have to play around with, and that is
that the right side low beam comes on with the parking lights. It is the
only one, and it seems to work independently of the high beam switch. If I
turn on high beams, BOTH low and high will illuminate in the left headlight.
It's the only one that does this. I suspect that I have not grounded the
one relay properly, or perhaps I have another bad relay. The relays from
the autoparts store aren't very rugged looking anyway.

Oh, and while I am on a rant about parts, does anyone on this list have any
experience with World Pac? My wrench uses a LOT of stuff from them, and
some of it is purely junk. I am in the process of having new struts and
strut mounts put into my wife's Audi 100 Wagon (aka "The Green Horney"), and
this will be the third set in three years, at least two of the previous sets
have failed after less than twenty thousand miles: all from World Pac.

These new ones are coming from Audi, and I have told John that I do not want
other than OEM parts in the car from now on. MUCH more expensive, but not
if you have to have the same service done every year.
