... what is your goal? What is or isn't the stock EFI system doing right so as to warrant its replacement? Have you looked into "chipping" the ECU to achieve what you are looking to fix?
The engine adjusts the timing based on the fuel it is expected to be supplying. I don't know if it uses the OXS readings to affect timing based on its perceived ability to control the mixture. If the mixture you are providing will cause the engine to knock the ECU will back off the timing.
... all that said, you should be able to swap out the fuel part of the system with something else. You will want to make sure the ECU "sees" the proper impedance for the injectors or else it will generate a code.
