[V8] standalone

This is along the lines of what I was thinking. I do know it is possible to
pick up some HP with 034, but is it worth the hassle?

I don't know why it wouldn't work, though. As long as you leave the stock
sensors where they are, and add the new stuff necessary (crank and cam
sensors, temp sensor, not sure what else). Another thought, do these cars
not use the same style injector as a 5.0 and 4.6 Mustang? If so, aftermarket
larger injectors are available reasonably for those applications. I always
wondered if the stock ECU programming could compensate, though. Has anyone
tried this? I always Though about this when I was thinking of turboing one
of these. Probably wouldn't work, but worth a try ;-)

... what is your goal? What is or isn't the stock EFI system doing right so
as to warrant its replacement? Have you looked into "chipping" the ECU to
achieve what you are looking to fix?

The engine adjusts the timing based on the fuel it is expected to be
supplying. I don't know if it uses the OXS readings to affect timing based
on its perceived ability to control the mixture. If the mixture you are
providing will cause the engine to knock the ECU will back off the timing.

... all that said, you should be able to swap out the fuel part of the
system with something else. You will want to make sure the ECU "sees" the
proper impedance for the injectors or else it will generate a code.
