[V8] Potential Parts Car

A friend of mine at work had the alternator go out on his '93, and has
offered to sell it to me as is for $1200. It has a hydraulic leak as well,
and needs a CV boot. Engine is over 200K, I believe PO rebuilt the top end.
Car is black/black like my '91, looks straight, interior isn't bad but has a
tear in the headliner. I helped him put Euros in it. IIRC it has H&R's,
and either Bilsteins or Konis. Wheels are 15" silver mesh. Came from
Indiana maybe a year ago-does anyone know this car?

Couple of options, several of which may involve marital issues with having
_another_ vehicle around:

-Take the parts I want, part out some, and send the rest to a recycler.
Lights, of course. I could certainly use the hood (wife dented mine a
couple months ago, repairable but I've been waiting for robotics season to
end before getting the whole car painted) and my front clip is peeling in
spots. The idea of a freshened 4.2 in my 5-speed is intriguing. I wouldn't
mind having the newer CC head, but not sure if this is feasible. Already
have a Gamma w/ CD (thanks, Ron).

-Fix it and drive it (hydraulic pump is recent, but he drove it for a while
w/ ATF in the steering!).

-Really fix it and transplant my 5-speed in. This would require a better
assessment of the mechanical condition of the car, and probably a trip to
Ohio.

-Pass.

How tough is it to get someone to take a semi-dismantled car off your hands?
I assume there is some threshold where you have to pay them. Stripping it
would require keeping it in the garage until it's gone.

Comments/ideas? What does a parts car go for these days? I know there are
several experienced dismantlers out there..

TIA,

Dave (on the edge of automotive insanity)
