[V8] Failing Speedo - Sensor p/n?

The thing is that I don't think there's a good way to test a flaky sender other than replacement, and I know they are quite expensive. For my money I'll go through the effort of pulling the IC and applying a good coat of DeoxIt to the pins ... and I'm also going to look for the bad solder joints as Ingo found on his. Then I can put it all back together and see if the speedo fails again ... and at that point I'll pony up for a new sender ...
If you have more than one car available I suppose you could swap senders between two cars to see if the problem moves. You might also be able to identify a problem with the one as you remove it. I don't know how tough it is to R&R the sender though ...
