[V8] Smoking V8

Have you done a compression test? My 3.6 did the same thing, rebuilt the heads, and still did it. One cylinder had its rings going away, which is what I attributed the problem to. It also puffed a bit after idling at a stop light then accelerating a tad hard away. It wasn't any better or worse after 50k milles, and power was good (by PT standards).
There's a certain procedure to comp tests that, I believe, requires the motor to be warm -- though I got about the same relative readings either way.
If you find a weak cylinder, don't sweat it -- like I said, it never worsened over a good amount of time.
I post this simply because you may get input regarding guides and seals, which can also have that effect.

Subject: Re: [V8] Smoking V8
Start V8 cold and never run to full temp, then stop engine. Wait for at
least 8 hours, then restart = oil smoke on start-up.
Start V8 cold, run to temperature drive etc. Wait for 8 hours & start = no
smoke on start-up.
Reasons why are simple enough. No repair needed unless you do #1 frequently.
