Well, I just tried things out again. It really feels like one cylinder is
dead. I hate the project, but I guess I will pull the damned plugs and see
what is what. I'm betting on bad wires, though. Still, the only thing not
new right now is the plugs that are one year old. I have eight new ones and
will soldier on after lunch.

The plug wires don't *need* to be seperated, but it's a good idea for
longevity. I use taylor wires on my Ford V8's. I have a 351 Cleveland 4bbl
and a 302 4bbl. As for the missing, can the base timing be set on that? I
believe there is a sequence to set the timing, like on a 5000 Turbo. After
startup, the computer takes care of the timing, but if it's too retarded as
a baseline, the computer may not be able to compensate at low RPM's.
As for the wires, I love Taylor brand 8mm wires. Have had the 351 C for 210K
since the rebuild, two sets of wires, about $45 each. I also have them on
the 302. Wish they were available for the Audi V8.
As suggested by Tim, cleaning the injection system is a very good idea as
well.
