[V8] Coolant Guage wackyness***Now IC board wackyness***

I too have done a lot of work with the AT & MT versions of the cluster ...
swapping boards isn't that big a deal IME. I've also swapped gauges between
boards ... so far only a clock, but the plan is to swap the speedo/odo from
the current cluster in #344 to the MT replacement when I do the exchange.
The other one that is straightforward is the instrument light dimmer ...
these also seem to be weak points.
I'm seeing similar behavior to what Ron is reporting on #2 ... the one with
the 5-speed cluster. Sometimes the coolant temp gauge reads dead cold and
sometimes it reads nearly overheating ...
Years ago there was a lister who had an e-mail of "whitepatch" who reported
having a "Helm" manual for the cluster ... I tried a few things to get a
copy from them, but it always ended in them telling me that they didn't do
manuals for foreign cars. I've got a 5-speed cluster under the knife right
now ... guess I should go ahead and figure out the circuitry for the coolant
gauge!
Has anyone here ever seen a detailed manual for the guts of the IC? I doubt
Audi dealers had them as the IC is a FRU.

Ron,
I did just that. I also removed the light bulbs that illuminate the
PRND321 display. The right side of the IC is actually part of the
whole black plastic IC gauge surround, so you can't just sub certain
parts. You'd need to swap the circuit boards.
