Roger -
Your Ford probably has an EEC-III (pronounced eek 3)
engine controller.
If you have sequential fuel injection (as opposed
to bank) you can do a cylinder balance test pretty easily. You will need
to research the specifics on the net - but basically with a jumper wire
you can put the ECU in a diagnostic mode.
