Man - talk about beating a dead horse - but I promised I would keep you
updated. Last night I got to work on the v8 again - I started by re-doing
the compression tests - this time all numbers were around the 100 to 115
psi mark! What in the heck is that about? I think I have the answer - I
had to replace the check valve in my compression tester - which is nothing
more than a valve from a tire valve stem, or so I thought. I put one in
it but it has a spring, I don't think the original did so it may cause
false low numbers - so the low numbers don't bother me yet. What does
drive me nuts is the fact that all of the numbers were close to the same!
Before I had one very low, lower than 100 - so what gives? All the sudden
I have magical compression regeneration? I did re-time the drivers side
cam, so maby that helped, I don't think so. I drove it this morning and
the MPG seemed better - but I'm not sure yet I need to test it more to be
sure. Also, it hasn't set the o2 code since I reset it last night -
usually it would set before I pulled out of the driveway so that may be a
good thing. I will come back with some more later. Thanks, Jason
