I thought aftermarket speakers rewired to replace the Bose sounds quite
nice. Then I ran all new wires w/new head unit, and then it sounded
superb.

Scott,
maybe the other Scott can chime in. On my harness/schematic/radio there
was no pin out labeled Bose. If I read the Bentley correctly, the
Wht/Blu was the only wire without an apparent function other than the
one ScottP mentioned. AFAIK, I have not lost any other radio
functionality by snipping it, illumination OK, Radio on warning OK,(my
car never had 'working' auto volume increase/decrease control) but also
no real difference in tone controls.

f the head unit closest to the bottom, (Look at the top of thedeck for
pin-outs), it should be either pin 1 or 2 in that connector. That pin
(labeled Bose) only goes to ground. It tells the head unit toflat-line
the controls, clipping that wire stops that effect. (line nolonger goes
to ground) Scott>
