[V8] Idle stablizer question & intro

Hello all. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time here. A month or
so ago my Audi 100 was totaled and was in search of another Audi. Someone
answered my prayers and responded to my want ad I posted on Craigslist. It
was a '90 pearl V8Q for $1,500. This was basically the Audi I wanted in the
first place, but they're so hard to come by I gave up and bought the 100. So
I took it for a test drive and took her home the same day. The past few
weeks here in Minnesota have been terrible weather-wise (-20 below temps,
then two huge snowstorms), so I've just let everything slide and just drove
back and forth to work. A warmup has come and bought us 30's and 40's for
temps so I'm getting the few small problems it has solved. The radio and amp
are now done thanks to a fellow lister (Tim) and now I have some rust spots
to touch up with the OEM 3 step paint I bought from the dealer (pretty cheap
for the stealership at only $15). That's gonna wait till the spring though.
For now I need to solve my slow/rough start problem. Ever since I bought my
V8Q I read back a couple years on here to see what to expect problemwise in
the future, as well as help on the ones I have now. I narrowed the problem
down to an idle stabelizer. All this is new to me, as I've only been into
Audis about a year (I'm a mk1 VW guy) and I've never even heard of an idle
stabelizer before. Anyway, onto the question! I think I found it. It's at
the very front of the engine and is a cylinder shape thing that has 3 acorn
nuts that hold it down and a wire harness sticking out of the other end. Is
this what I'm looking for? If so, can I just unbolt it and clean it out, or
does it have to be sealed with something when I put it back on? Is there any
sort of fluids that will come leaking out when I take it off? Sorry, but I'm
rather ignorant on any cars newer than 1982, but I'm learning.

Thanks much! :)
