[V8] If you think Audi parts are expensive....

Ok, go to a non audi dealer and put in the wrong oil into your RS6
(mandatory 5/40 VW synthetic spec). When a single rod spins from improper lubricant,
you find out the engine is *not* a rebuildable block... the engine is 43K
USD part only, add labor. Non compliance with the oil change, not a warrantee
repair.

I suspect the twin turbo v12 MB would use a water cooled alternator. Then
again, I still have scars from a MB 2.3 16 fuel line that prevented vapor lock
by cooling from the A/C refrigerant line being an integral part of the fuel
line.

Spoke with a friend of mine today, he works at a Mercyless Benz/Maybach
dealership as a tech. Swapped out an alternator on one today, a water
cooled alternator. When the alternator went out it took out some
electronics in the instrument cluster. Car is still under
warranty....warranty repair submitted to Maybach.....$21,000. Yep,
twenty one thousand dollars. Alternator is around $10k, cluster around
$10k + $1k in labor.

Still going to bitch to Mac at Clair about those dealer only parts I have to
get on occasion, but not quite as much.
